Snow Will Span From Southwest to Northeast and Parts of Northwest

Snow showers will stretch across much of the country today, beginning in parts of the Northwest, then in the Southwest from Arizona to Vermont, with freezing rain from Texas to Ohio, and thunderstorms and rain in the South.

Snow stretches from Southwest to Northeast

Snow will span nearly the entirety of the country on Tuesday. Snow in the northwestern tier of the country, while a contiguous band of snow showers stretches from Arizona in the Southwest all the way to the Vermont in the Northeast. Here is a region-by-region look at today’s snow forecast.

Northwest: Snow over portions of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana.

West: Snow for much of Wyoming, Utah, Colorado.

Southwest: Snow over a large portion of Arizona and New Mexico.

Midwest: Snow over portions of Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. Heavy snow is forecast over central and western Iowa, as well as southern Wisconsin.

Ohio Valley: Snow for Northern Ohio. Heavy snow is forecast over northern Illinois.

Mid-Atlantic: Snow for northwestern Pennsylvania and southern New York.

Northeast: Snow for southern Vermont and Western Massachusetts.

Winter storm warnings

The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings for the following areas on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

Northwest: eastern Washington and northern Idaho.

West/Southwest: southeastern Wyoming; western Nebraska; western Colorado; eastern Utah; northern and central New Mexico.

Central US: southeastern South Dakota; southwestern Minnesota; eastern Nebraska; southwestern and northwestern Iowa; northeastern Kansas; northwestern Missouri; Iowa; northeastern Illinois; southern and southeastern Wisconsin; northwestern Indiana.

Freezing rain across nation’s midsection and Washington

The southern parts of Washington state will see spots of freezing rain. However, a wide and long band of freezing rain will extend from Texas into Michigan and Ohio.

Freezing rain is forecast over western Oklahoma, much of Kansas and Missouri, parts of Nebraska, southern Iowa, northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, northern Indiana, central and southern Michigan and northeast Ohio.

Today’s rain forecast

Rain and thunderstorms are forecast over south-central US, spotty rain over the South, as well as rain four parts of the Southwest and Northwest.

Thunderstorms will be prevalent today over most of Texas, enter portions of Oklahoma, Arkansas and parts of southern Kansas and Missouri.

South: Spotty rain showers are forecast over portions of Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida.

Southwest: rain showers for southern Arizona.

Northwest: rain showers along the Western portions of Washington and Oregon.
