Much of the West will see snowfall on Wednesday. Expect freezing rain in the upper Midwest. Most of the South and Southeast will enjoy abundant sunshine and mild conditions, while more snow is headed for the mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

Here is an overview of Wednesday’s weather across the nation, according to the forecast by the National Weather Service (NWS).

Western US: Snow is expected for Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, California, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado.

A wintry mix is forecast for Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico, with freezing rain for northeastern Montana.

Rain is forecast for portions of northern and southern California.

Central US & Upper Midwest: A wintry mix and/or freezing rain are forecast for portions of Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Rain is expected over southeastern Oklahoma, southwestern Arkansas, northeastern Kansas, northwestern Missouri and southwestern Iowa.

South & Southeast: Sunny with mild-to-cool temperatures are expected for most areas.

Mid-Atlantic & Northeast: Pockets of snow are forecast over West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Heavier snow is expected over most of New York and all of Vermont. Snow is forecast for northern New Hampshire and Maine.
