Severe thunderstorms are forecast over parts of the southern and central plains, while heavy rain will bring the risk of flooding to portions of the southeast; plus, more today’s weather news and forecast.
The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning of heavy rain and severe thunderstorms over portions of the southern and central plains today which could cause localized flooding in some areas.
Severe thunderstorms are possible over portions of central and northern Texas, northwestern Oklahoma and the Panhandle, eastern Colorado, and western and southern Kansas.
The NWS has issued a flash flood watch over north-central Oklahoma, the western and central portions of Kansas, as well as south-central Nebraska.
Yesterday’s severe weather in Texas left over 11,000 people still without power as of Thursday morning.
Thunderstorms will be prevalent throughout the South and Southeast on Thursday and the National Weather Service (NWS) is warning of heavy rain that could lead to possible flash flooding.
Thursday, marks the fourth straight day of torrential rain across the Virginias and Carolinas making these states the strongest areas of concern for flash flooding as an increase in rainfall will occur in the latter half of the day.
A flash flood watch is in effect in northern central and eastern North Carolina, northeastern South Carolina, eastern West Virginia, as well as the western half of Virginia, where the highest risk is for areas extending from Roanoke.
Portions of the Northwest and northern Rockies will see mixed precipitation on Thursday over central and eastern Oregon, central and northern Washington, central and northern Idaho, Western Montana, and western Wyoming.
