High Wind Warnings, Wintry Mix and Freezing Rain Northwest Into Midwest

The NWS is warning of high winds spanning from the Northwest into the Midwest, with a wintry mix and some snow, as well as freezing rain over the upper Midwest, thunderstorms in the South, snow for parts of the Northeast.

High wind alerts from Northwest to Midwest

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued alerts for high winds that will span a vast area from the Northwest into the Midwest on Wednesday.

High wind warning: eastern Washington; southwest Oregon; northern California; northern Idaho; Montana; Wyoming; western North Dakota; western South Dakota; northern, east-central and northeastern Colorado; northwestern Kansas.

High wind watch: central North Dakota; central and eastern South Dakota; Nebraska; western and north-central Kansas

Wind advisory: northeast Oregon; southeastern and northeastern Washington; northern, central and eastern Idaho; northwestern Montana; central Kansas.

From Northwest to Midwest: Wintry mix, freezing rain warning

A wintry mix will span from the Northwest into parts of the West and Midwest on Wednesday, and could include some pockets of snow, especially for the eastern portions of the West.

The National Weather Service has issued a warning of possible freezing rain over northeastern North Dakota, Minnesota, western Wisconsin, as well as central and eastern Iowa.

The wintry mix will extend over a broad area to include parts of: Washington, Oregon, northern California, Idaho, northern Nevada, northern and central Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Missouri.

Snow could fall over western Wyoming, eastern Idaho, northeastern Utah and northwestern Colorado.

Northeast: Snow, wintry mix

Snow is forecast by the NWS is for parts of the Northeast on Wednesday, including the regions of northern Pennsylvania, southern and northern New York, and northeastern Vermont. Mixed precipitation is forecast over southeastern Maine, but snow is possible over parts of the state.

South: Thunderstorms, rain

Thunderstorms are forecast by the NWS in the South for Wednesday, spanning across parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina on Wednesday. Rain is forecast for most of Florida, with the exception of the Panhandle.
